AnxietyAnxiety is a type of fear usually associated with the thought of a threat or something going wrong in the future, but can also arise from something happening right now.
According to The Mental Health Foundation: In 2013, there were 8.2 million cases of anxiety in the UK alone and women are almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with anxiety disorders as men. |
DepressionDepression is a common mental disorder that causes people to experience depressed mood, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite, low energy, and poor concentration.
Depression is the predominant mental health problem worldwide, followed by anxiety. |
StressStress is the body's reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses.
According to a 2018 study by The Mental Health Foundation, 51% of adults who felt stressed reported feeling depressed, and 61% reported feeling anxious. Of the people who said they had felt stress at some point in their lives, 16% had self harmed and 32% said they had had suicidal thoughts and feelings. |
Sleep DisordersOver 30% of the population currently suffers from insomnia or another sleep disorder. Poor sleep can increase the risks of poor mental health, and can lead to a range of illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Far from being a minor concern, poor sleep can have a major impact on our mental wellbeing and day to day lives, with sleep playing a vital role in our relationships, our mood and our ability to concentrate.

Low Confidence/Self Esteem
We all have times when we lack confidence and do not feel good about ourselves. But when low self-esteem becomes a long-term problem, it can have a harmful effect on our mental health and our day-to-day lives. When our self-esteem is low, we tend to see ourselves and our life in a more negative and critical light. We also feel less able to take on the challenges that life throws at us. |
Gender Dysphoria
Gender dysphoria involves a conflict between a person's physical or assigned gender and the gender with which he/she/they identify. People with gender dysphoria may be very uncomfortable with the gender they were assigned or with the expected roles of their assigned gender. People with gender dysphoria may often experience significant distress and/or problems functioning associated with this conflict between the way they feel and think of themselves (referred to as experienced or expressed gender) and their physical or assigned gender. |
Quit Smoking
Most adults in the UK are aware of the physical health risks of smoking tobacco, but research shows that smoking also affects people's mental health. The biological factors involved in smoking relate to how the brain responds to nicotine. When a person smokes, a dose of nicotine reaches the brain within about ten seconds. At first, nicotine improves mood and concentration, decreases anger and stress, relaxes muscles and reduces appetite. |
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental health condition caused by a traumatic experience. Any situation that a person finds traumatic can cause post-traumatic stress disorder. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy never takes you back to your trauma and only focuses on the solution. |
Virtual Gastric Band
The Virtual Gastric Band is a remarkable weight loss programme, and one which Sheila Granger pioneered in the UK. As the name suggests, the system utilises the concept of a "virtual” gastric band and clinical hypnotherapy. It successfully harnesses the power that every individual holds within them to make changes to their lives. The Virtual Gastric Band is a non-surgical technique which uses the power of hypnosis to retrain you to be satisfied with smaller amounts of food. It changes how you think about food and gives very safe, very predictable results. The clinical hypnotherapy convinces the brain that the stomach is full after a certain level of intake and that there is no need for more food. |
